Rocky Mountain Fishing Frenzy.

Kyle Perkins (Compleat Thought), Moi, Andy Suttoff (AJSutts Blog), Sean Sanders (Up The Poudre), Gary Thompson (Silk Lines & Paper Hulls), Jen Kugler (Fly Fishilicious), David Goodrich (Back Country Fish Nerd), Larry Snyder (Fly Fish Crazy), and Emily Blankenship (The River Damsel)

I have an experiential belief that people, animals, and even things, live up to their names -- except streams, it seems...fishermen like to keep these things secret, and purposely name them to keep them so (Dry or Bitch Creek, anyone?). A horse named Stormy, a bull named Satan, a cat named Scratch, or a girl named Jezebel. Christening is a serious business. And The Frenzy lived up to its name. So many bodies of water with so little time gets one to feeling -- well...frenzied. In a good way.

Saturday morning I got to fish Boulder Creek with Emily, The River Damsel. There is a story here, but it is hers to tell...

My story? It's simple. This was good. This was fun. I hope there will be another one.

  3. Brk Trt - Indeed....be looking for them on the linked blogs soon. And they did more fishing than did I. I'm looking forward to them too!

Russell - That would be great! And I'm sure there will be another...Emily was already starting to plan I think!

Matt - It was...on both accounts!

  6. I love inconspicuous stream names. Two of my favorite Iowa trout streams, Catfish Creek and Sny Magill. Let the others flock to Trout Run, Coldwater, Spring Creek. :)

  7. Looks like a fun weekend, and I appreciate being turned on to some additional bloggers (more content, more content...I'm like cookie monster towards content...okay, and cookies too)

  8. That's a motley looking crew for sure, though a particularly surly element is missing: CoFisher. I know by now that his absence was for medical reasons, but even if he had shown up he wouldn't have caught fish. Looking forward to hear some tales...

  9. deanwo - It certainly was! Thanks for stopping by!

G Lech - There seem to be an abundance of bloggers out here... :)

    John - Exactly!

Rhythm Rider - They are all great. Next time, I hope you can join in too!

Kirk - Cofisher was missed on the water, but managed to meet up with us afterwards. None of us caught many fish, but I guess Howard would have made us all feel better about that, eh? ;-)

  10. Looks like a great bunch of folks with which to spend time on the water.

What's particularly cool about the folks in that photo is that most of them look younger than me. In fact, I bet most are closer to half the age of the average fly angler (around 55 yrs old) than to my 46 years.

Younger, talented voices can only help draw new people to the sport.

  11. Damn post office is SO slow. I STILL haven't received my invite...

Maybe a "Guest Blogger" isn't good enough? ;D

  12. Steve - I think the field is definitely growing, as even as a "young'un" it's fun to see!

OneBugIsFake - Slap on the wrist to the usps! Really though, next year, I'll personally send you one. :) Deal?

  13. If there's another Frenzy I'd be happy to join in. Of course the USPS may not be around long, so e-mail my invite.

penbayman - Ain't too shabby. Although we all smelled of fish!

Herringbone - And I, your comments.

Sanders - Huzzah! And hope we fish again before another frenzy!

Cofisher - I think you were the smartest of the bunch.....

  20. I didn't get to fish with you again Erin! I was sorely disappointed. At least we were able to chat for a while, and I was able to meet Jay! Cool dude!

  21. backcountryfishnerd - I was disappointed in not getting to fish with you again too. Seriously. I was. :( I think a Dave-Sanders-Erin day on the water should be in the plans soon. And Jay too...cause he is indeed a cool dude.

  22. EMB & BCFN - I wish I could take you both to a very special place, but my damn work schedule is getting in the way. It appears you've both got some fish mojo. If you've got time this weekend, and time for a three hour tour, let me know and I'll give you directions to a crazy huge brown trout pig fest. The time to go is this weekend. If you want directions let me know.
